AMPYR GTC works closely with AMPYR’s renewable energy platforms in Europe and USA, providing leading-edge technical expertise.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Engineer – Solar PV Design in our engineering and design team for delivering cutting-edge solar power solutions for AMPYR’s European and American platforms. The Senior Senior Engineer – Solar PV Design will be responsible for delivering DC and AC engineering & design, from concept to commissioning, for solar power projects within designated countries/region. This role requires strong understanding of PV engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software, and attention to detail to ensure high quality design output that meets industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize PV plants, including layout design and sizing of cables and equipment for both DC and AC systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for DC and AC systems and other electrical works, including SCADA systems.
  • Develop layout plans, single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable trench layouts, and other essential drawings.
  • Conduct technical and quality assessments of PV modules.
  • Review generation analyses in PVsyst, considering various technologies for PV modules and inverters.
  • Perform energy yield assessments utilizing various weather datasets (SolarGIS, Meteonorm, 3-Tier) and considering different probability factors.
  • Stay updated on relevant IEC standards for the design of solar plants and equipment.
  • Finalize grid connection architecture in consultation with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
  • Interact with OEMs to gather information on the latest available technologies and integrate them into the design for more efficient and economical PV plants.
  • Collaborate with prospective EPC companies to finalize parameters, layouts, and quality aspects during the pre-bid stage.
  • Review and approve designs and documents submitted by EPC contractors.
  • Work on substation projects up to 110 kV.
  • Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of existing plants.
  • Participate in EPC contract negotiations for solar PV projects.
  • Prepare annexures and scopes of work for EPC contracts.
  • Manage lender engineering for solar projects.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors to ensure optimized engineering practices that comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure all designs and installations meet technical requirements and quality standards.

Experience, skills and competencies

  • Experience in Europe or MENA countries is an added advantage
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to synthesize both engineering and business requirements
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Wrike, or Smartsheet
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for solar energy projects
  • Understanding of civil and mechanical systems related to solar energy plants is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Independent, self-motivated, and team-oriented, with excellent communication skills
  • Effective time management, attention to detail, and an analytical mindset

Desirable qualifications / professional certification (if applicable)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 8-12 years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years in solar plant design
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and PVsyst; experience with ETAP or any BESS analysis software is a plus
  • Proficiency in CAD, PVsyst, and ETAP (or equivalent)
